What is DigiUp?

The DigiUp project co-funded by the EU started in 2023 and will run for three years. The DigiUp project connects higher education students, academic staff and young people from Europe and Sub-Saharan countries through well-established virtual activities for development, acquisition, and application of both digital and soft skills.

Digiup is led by Metropolitan College and the consortium is composed of the Erasmus Student Network, Youth for Exchange and Understanding, University of Johannesburg, University of Venda, University of Kwazulu-Natal, University of Nairobi, University of Dar Es Sallam.

Goals

The goal of the project is to increase career opportunities and move forward with the 21st century skills needed by young people. DigiUp targets students, professors and staff from higher education institutions from European and Sub-Saharan countries, willing to participate in a series of Virtual Exchanges and further develop their digital and soft skills and secure the employability of their students.

    April - June 2023

    Welcome activities

    Students and university staff will be introduced to DigiUp through virtual cultural courses, orientation sessions, and team building activities, with a final report and screenshots.

    Jul. 2023 - Feb. 2024

    Virtual exchanges for staff DIGCOMPEDU

    Staff and youth workers will be trained on DIGCOMPEDU through virtual exchanges and courses on professional engagement using digital resources, and innovative teaching and learning methods.

    March - December 2024

    Virtual exchanges for learners DIGCOMP 2.0

    Students and youth will be empowered on the individual pillars of DIGCOMP and enhance their digital skills through virtual exchanges and online courses on information and data literacy, comms and collaboration, digital content creation, safety, and problem-solving.

    Skills for 2023 for HEI students and youth NGO representatives

    Key transversal skills for 2030 will be fostered via training activities addressing HEI students and representatives of youth NGOs, including activities on effective communication and problem-solving with IT tools and peer learning activities.

    Experts training on digital and transversal skills

    Experts on digital and transversal skills will be invited to transfer knowledge and skills and empower with learners.
